Australian Prototype Series: Round 2 Highlights & Championship Standings
The Australian Prototype Series delivered high-octane action at Sydney Motorsport Park under clear, sunny skies. After a chilly qualifying session brought to an early end by a Turn 4 red flag, drivers delivered thrilling class battles across three races.
AP1: Jason Makris (#44) was the man to beat early on, taking overall pole and sweeping victories in Races 1 and 2 before sitting out the finale. John-Paul Drake (#66) capitalized in Race 3, taking a hard-fought outright and class win.
AP2: Paul Trengrove (#5) put on a masterclass in his Wolf Thunder, sweeping all three AP2 class victories while snatching two impressive 2nd-place overall finishes.
AP3: Michael Yialas (#33) executed a perfect weekend, leading every session from qualifying through to Race 3 to claim maximum points.
Updated Championship Leaders
Using the official series scoring matrix (Race 1: 45 pts win, Race 2: 45 pts win, Race 3: 60 pts win), Round 2 reshuffled the title standings:
AP1 Class Leader: Jason Makris steals the championship lead with 195 points (105 from Rd 1 + 90 from Rd 2 victories).
AP2 Class Leader: Paul Trengrove surges to the top of the standings with 267 points (117 from Rd 1 + a maximum 150-point sweep in Rd 2).
AP3 Class Leader: Michael Yialas jumps into the title lead with 271 points (121 from Rd 1 + a maximum 150-point sweep in Rd 2).
